Mayor Asks Residents To Help Determine Direction Of Lincoln-Lancaster County Plan For 2050

What will the needs of residents be 30 years in the future?

That’s the question Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird wants Lincolnites to answer via an online survey as part of her administration’s major update to the Lincoln and Lancaster County Comprehensive Plan for 2050.

“Lincoln’s high quality of life in 2020 is the direct result of previous generations who were working together to turn their future dreams and vision into the city that we enjoy today.”

Lincoln Planning Director David Carey says Lincoln and the survey helps his department focus the direction of the plan.

“It is piece of information that helps us make sure the plan is reflecting what people are envisioning for the future.”

In addition to the survey, residents are also invited to attend a “kick-off” event for the update, which will be held at Pinnacle Bank Arena February 6th.

According to the city, Lancaster County is expected to grow by 120,000 residents by 2050 with 90% of the growth occurring in Lincoln.
