Personal finance website WalletHub released its 2022 report for the best and worst cities in American for military veterans. The report compares 100 of the United States’ largest cities across 20 key metrics such as housing affordability and the availability of VA health facilities.

The report ranks Lincoln as the eighth best city for veterans of the military. Raleigh, North Carolina took the top spot. Austin and Laredo, both in Texas, are ranked second and third. Meanwhile, Detroit, Michigan landed 100th to take the title of worst city for military veterans. Newark, New Jersey and Memphis, Tennessee took the 99th and 98th places, respectively.

WalletHub Analyst Jill Gonzalez commented on the findings, saying “How good or bad a city is for veterans depends on various factors, from the quality of the city’s VA facilities and its retirement-friendliness to the rates of poverty, unemployment, and homelessness.”

Gonzalez added that 71 percent of military members think the United States does not take care of its veterans financially.
