The public wireless internet service at the state capitol was temporarily shut down this week because of a security breach.
Legislative Executive Board Chair Sen. Mike Hilgers tells KLIN News that they discovered a potentially compromised computer that was propagating to other computers. Hilgers says that during that short period of time there was a temporary suspension of the public wi fi as opposed to the state network or any other secured network.
Hilgers emphasized that it was not a data breach into the state network.
Hilgers says state officials don’t know who caused the breach and are still investigating.
