Lincoln Police released information for those wanting to help LPD Investigator Mario Herrera and his family. Investigator Herrera was shot while on duty Wednesday.

Blood Donations can be made through Nebraska Community Blood Bank. Appointments are required and can be made on-line or by phone.

People can make donations of blood in Mario’s name by filling out a ‘Count Me In’ card at the donation site by listing his name.
Monetary Donations:
The family has established a fund at Liberty First Credit Union in response to the outpouring. Any of the branches in Lincoln will accept the funds.
LPD spokesperson Officer Erin Spilker thanked the community for helping Mario and his family and added a cautionary reminder.
Some people seize these opportunities to create fraudulent charities and spreading this message helps avoid that from happening. This is the only current method for supporting the family financially.
