By News Feb 23, 2021 | 3:20 PM

Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird and the Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department (LLCHD) today announced that the COVID-19 Risk Dial will remain in mid-yellow for a second consecutive week as key indicators have leveled off.  The yellow position on the dial means that the risk of the virus spreading in the community is moderate.  On the color-coded dial, red represents the highest risk of COVID-19 spread, and green represents the lowest risk. The dial is updated every Tuesday.

The position of the Risk Dial is based on multiple local indicators and information from the previous three weeks.

  • The seven-day rolling average of new daily cases dropped from 85 cases on February 1 to 46 on February 20.  Since February 8, the average has leveled off, fluctuating between 46 and 49 cases. The number of new weekly cases has been below 500 for three consecutive weeks.  For the week ending February 20, the number of new cases was 325.
  • The positivity rate has increased from 17.8 percent the week ending February 13 to 24.1 percent the week ending February 20.
  • Since February 11, the number of COVID-19 patients hospitalized locally has fluctuated between 27 and 35.
