A comeback then domination as the Huskers won twice Saturday.

Minnesota (3-11) jumped out to a 4-1 lead in the first game of the day. That’s when the Nebraska (10-4) came alive to the tune of five runs courtesy a pair of Husker hits and two Gopher errors. The final two runs came in while bases were loaded and in back-to-back batters Spencer Schwellenbach was walked and Cam Chick was hit by the pitch.

Schwellenbach then moved from shortstop to pitcher to throw a scoreless seventh inning and earn the save as Nebraska took game one 6-4.

The second game was less stressful for Husker faithful.

After a scoreless top of the first, Nebraska came to the plate and quickly loaded the bases. Luke Roskam took advantage with a grand slam to begin what would become an avalanche of scoring.

The Huskers notched 11 hits, and scored eight runs in the third inning, four in the fifth, and another one in the sixth. Even with the Gophers tallying four runs in the top of the seventh inning, Nebraska’s lead was safe for the 17-5 win.

Jake Bunz pitched 4.0 scoreless innings, notching five strikeouts for the win.

Roskam ended with six RBIs as he went 2-for-4 at the plate. Leighton Banjoff and Cam Chick also went yard in the game.

The Huskers and Gophers close out the series Sunday.
